UIUC's first Jewish-affiliated housing option
Illini Chabad is an ideal place for students to live.
Overlooking Washington Park with Stadium views from the top floor, Illini Chabad offers a premier housing experience for University of Illinois students. Residents enjoy the privacy of their own bedroom in our two-bedroom suites, while feeling welcomed and supported by the tight-knit community of just 31 other students.
Residents of Illini Chabad enjoy concierge-style amenities like twice-weekly housekeeping, a full beverage bar with hot and cold drinks, and community activities led by the on-site Resident Director. With only 32 students, Illini Chabad staff are able to build great relationships so residents feel welcome, cared for, and safe on campus.
Illini Chabad prides itself on providing a cozy, welcoming environment in a beautiful, newly-constructed space so students feel at home and at ease, giving them the best support for success at University of Illinois.
Illini Chabad takes time and consideration in matching roommates based on a variety of academic and social preferences. We are also able to accomodate suitemate requests for students who will be coming to campus with a roommate in mind!
At Illini Chabad, we want residents to engage and become a part of our community. Our on-site Resident Director plans several activities throughout the year for residents to meet each other and develop friendships that will last their four University years and beyond! The social activities at Illini Chabad do not have a religious component. Students seeking Jewish social activities are more than welcome to participate in Chabad's programming on the first floor.
Illini Chabad is proud to share a home with Chabad Center for Jewish Life - a thriving Jewish student center on UIUC's campus. Students of any faith background, or no religious-affiliation, are welcome and should feel comfortable living at Illini Chabad. Separate from the residence, students are welcome to participate in as much or as little Jewish programming on the first floor as they choose! Rabbi Tiechtel and his wife Goldie welcome everyone with open arms
Academics come first for most University of Illinois students and Illini Chabad offers the right environment and support for students to succeed in and out of the classroom. With gigabit WiFi throughout the building, students can choose from a variety of quiet, comfortable areas to study. Many residents want a change of scenery from their bedroom or suite living room and choose to spend time studying alone or with friends in our second-floor lounge. The lounge is also where you'll find our 24/7 complimentary beverage bar so residents can enjoy a cold iced tea or cozy up with a warm coffee while preparing for class. With two reservable conference rooms, residents can host study groups with classmates or work on group projects without leaving Illini Chabad. Free printing is also available to our residents and is located in the lounge.
We want our students to be able to fully immerse themselves into campus life; however, we also understand the need for private space now more than ever before. Students can relax and recharge in their own private bedroom within our two-bedroom suites or spend time with their suitemate in the shared living room. This is why our students will all be situated in their own private bedroom within a 2-bedroom suite that has a common living space.
